About the Internship
SALSA offers a unique internship program where the interns are given ample opportunities to expand the horizon of their knowledge.
After orientation of Nalsa and Salsa a brief introduction session was there. I completed the whole of the internship under proper guidance of very supportive and knowledgeable guides/coordinators.
Main Tasks
This internship is great for 1st and 2nd-year students as it does not demand knowledge of procedural laws and is more of field work and visits full of new experiences.
While interning you will be required to study the working of the State legal service authority and interact with panel advocates which also deliver lectures on mediation, arbitration and legal aid which help while doing survey and explaining to others.
They arrange for visits to observation home, schools, orphanage, legal aid clinics, old age homes and underprivileged areas which will bring you closer to the reality.
Work Environment
The staff at SALSA was very cooperating and the internship was a combination of both learning and fun.
Since the DLSA i.e. district legal services authority’s office is situated in the Chandigarh and it works under SALSA we went to Lok Adalats and arbitration and conciliation center there.
The staff members at SALSA were very efficient in updating us about the visits and schedule, they were very accommodating and lenient.
The co-interns were also coordinative and frank.
Best Things
The best thing was that we were given a chance to interact with Hon’ble Justice Shri Dipak Misra, Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court besides other senior most Judges on inauguration of Legal Assistance Cells for Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh at Chandigarh Judicial Academy.
We were offered refreshments and even lunch on a few days.
Bad Things
There was nothing bad with this internship. However, the time period for the internship should have been more.
Stipend
No stipend.
