Application Process with contact details
I applied through my CV. I was to fill the questionnaire which was allotted as part of interview process.
I was called for the personal interview by the Legal Head Mr. Badrinath after which the internship.
Duration of Internship and timings
23rd May, 2015 to 11th July, 2015
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
I started interning at APSEZ for 45 days from 23rd May 2015 to 11th July 2015 under the guidance of the Associate Lawyer, Mr Varun Israni.
It being a corporate firm gave much apprehension regarding the Contract law, Company laws and Intellectual Property Rights. Working with Amarchand Mangaldas and APSEZ, it being the most leading firm in India, was indeed a dream.
It was a five-floored building with the essence of corporate and executive culture. Karan Adani and Gautam Adani worked in the same office alike other employees.
When the ambience holds you spell-bound how can you think of not working there?
Main tasks
I had my internship timings from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm.
I was in the corporate department so my main task during the internship was to help Senior Associate and Associate Lawyer with the research work on the matters they were working on.
I was also asked to list down regulatory updates on daily basis, summarize articles on topics that were allowed by the Legal head. I was asked to summarize the Contract Act regulations, Intellectual property rights and the Environmental Laws.
I was to visit Mundra for my personal experience and the analyse the working of ports there. I was there for 2 days, where I got updates regarding the docks, terminals and the land acquisition cases.
I also visited the Kandla port and had interaction with the Captains. Apart from that I worked on lot of concession agreements.
Work environment and people
It was quite decent perhaps the best ambience. There was no such supremacy.
The top level and Middle level management including the interns worked together. The head was a great observer. He would listen to everyone’s suggestion and be decisive when required.
Best things
The deferential approach and work environment left me flabbergasted.
I had the best experience here. I can never be at a place better than this.
I was the only female employee yet working with male employees wasn’t a difficult task.
The work place was no less than a family to me. They gave me an opportunity to participate in every seminar or training session followed by recognition and appraisal.
Bad things
None
Stipend
The stipend was not provided. The certificate of excellence was given at the end of internship. A lunch treat and some books were also gifted to me by my Legal Head.
Biggest Lessons
Apart from drafting documents and working on agreements, I have earned lot of appraisal and great lessons regarding behavioural approach towards employees.
I can assimilate then and now is the working mechanism of corporate bodies. I endured the practical vision of working in corporates for the future journey that I am to embark.
Accommodation
My family resides in Ahmedabad for I had no such issues regarding accommodation.
Office Timings
9;00 am to 6;300 pm.
