A call for interns, containing all the details, is usually published by the journal for their annual summer/winter internship programme.

I was required to submit my CV and a Writing Sample with a cover letter to info@ijlms.in by the stipulated date. Around 10 candidates were shortlisted, all of whom then had to go through the second round of the selection process, which involved writing a brief note on a topic given to them.

Since the NEET verdict was then making headlines, my topic was, ‘Stalemate of NEET’.
Around 2-4 interns are usually selected for the online internship.

June 10, 2016 to July 10, 2016

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

I was required to send a confirmation mail and fill out a declaration form provided to me.

Main tasks

My main task was to research on various topics assigned to me and to prepare notes/articles on them as per the guidelines given. I was also assigned a Reporting Manager who would guide me regarding the work to be carried out.

Work environment and people

The work environment was good. My Research Guide as well as the Editor-in-Chief were very knowledgeable and approachable.

Best things

The best thing about the internship was that it actually honed my analytical skills. It not only enhanced my research abilities but also provided me with the right kind of guidance and helped me come up with constructive research work.

Bad things

No bad things as such.

No stipend.

Biggest Lessons

Conduction of comprehensive research work in a disciplined manner was emphasised by this internship. Since it was an online internship, it was also very convenient.

Accommodation

It was an online internship so one could complete all the assignments from home.

Office Timings

Adequate deadlines were given to me to complete the tasks assigned.
