Duration of Internship and timings
My duration of internship was from 21st November, 2016 to 21st December, 2016, i.e., for a period of 4 weeks.
The timings were depending upon the tasks given during the stipulated day.
First Day Experience
My first day at the office was very nice and calm. A friend of mine had also interned with me.
We were introduced by Advocate Dhruv Rohatgi, who is one of the two partners in the firm.
We were a little skeptical about our first interaction with the partners but Dhruv Sir was really welcoming and soft-spoken. He asked us a few things regarding our college curriculum and the subjects we had studied till then.
The other partner, Advocate Abhijit Mittal met us a little later and he was equally friendly and welcoming.
Main Tasks
The main tasks assigned to me during the internship was mainly related to drafting and research work.
Since it is a litigation firm, we had to visit various courts around Delhi/NCR and assist the partners in the proceedings.
Work environment and people
The work here is mainly balanced and we did not come across hectic work schedules. Work depended upon the need of the hour. We got a lot of insight into the work of a startup law firm.
We were fortunate enough to work under the aegis of such generous partners as such superiors are seldom found in a profession like law.
If we had any doubts, we could ask the partners without any inhibitions till we understood.
We never felt that we are under some pressure to deliver the work required by them as they were equally helpful in teaching us the trades of the profession in a calm and composite manner.
In a nutshell, the work environment at the office was extremely nice and we loved to work here.
Best Things
The best things about the internship was the amicable work environment in the office and friendly demeanor of the partners towards the interns.
Being novice in the field of law, it was natural to harbour numerous doubts regarding the work given to us.
It was the constant support of the partners which helped us immensely in clearing our doubts and helping us whenever possible.
The office is very nice with all the basic amenities provided well. The location of the office is also very good being near to all the major public transport transport points.
Apart from office, we were also required to be present at various matters in numerous forums in and around Delhi.
Bad Things
There are no negative things which I experienced during my internship.
Stipend
No stipend.
Biggest Lessons
Never be shy in clearing your doubts with your seniors. It may result in a bad note at that point, but will save you from encountering a worse note later on.
Also, be curious to learn new things in your internship. If your recruiter notices that curiosity, it will help in generating a positive image in the professional world in the longer run.
Any other thing
Since Defence Colony is a posh area and near to areas like Lajpat Nagar and South Ex, most of the eateries are located nearby.
Accommodation
Since I live with my parents in Ghaziabad, I did not take any accommodation near the office. For outsiders, PGs are available near Defence Colony at South Ex.
Office Timings
My office timings were from 10:30 am to 6:00 pm.
Saturdays are usually off, depending upon the amount of work in the office.
