First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
This was my first internship in a court. I was asked to report at my advocates chamber by 10 am. Alipore District Court covers a huge area so I had a bit difficulty looking for his chamber.
When I reached his chamber, we had a formal conversation regarding my college, subjects which I have studied and then he asked me to accompany him to the court. I had spent the whole day observing court hearings.
Main tasks
My main work during this internship was to read case briefs and observe court hearing. I also used to draft Hajira and file it in different court rooms where my advocate used to have hearings. There were few days when I used to accompany my advocate to the Bar library to help him in research work.
Work environment and people
Three junior advocates used to work under my advocate.They were very friendly and cooperative. We used to have tea together in leisure time. I used to visit court rooms with them when my advocate was no there.
Best things
We used to get tea treat everyday from our advocate after the court used to get over.
Bad things
I did my internship in summer and the weather was too hot that time. None of the court rooms have AC except the District Magistrates room.

Biggest Lessons
If you don’t know Bengali, then never do internship in Alipore District Court because most of the court hearings takes place in Bengali.

Accommodation
I am from Kolkata, so I stayed at my home. But there are many Pgs available nearby.
Office Timings
I used to reach the court by 10 am and leave by 4 pm. The court remain closed on second and fourth Saturday.
