Duration of internship and timings

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

There were a lot of government authorities located in that particular area where NALSA was situated. The building was a small one. And we were made to sit in a conference hall.

Then the person who was heading our internship introduced the structure and functioning of NALSA and told us about the action plan for 21 days.

Main tasks

The main work was the field work and observation of the various legal forums. They made us visit SC and its library, Child Welfare Committee and various other committees and Social organizations. The best part was to visit Tihar jail and learn the functions of it.

Then various kinds of applications and petitions which were forwarded to NALSA was given to us and we used to read and write the remedies for the same.

Work environment and people

The work environment was really friendly. And the person under whom the internship worked was very interactive and ready to help the interns even at odd hours.

Best things

The best thing about the internship was to observe the real and concrete functioning of those organizations which were related to the poor sector of our country. The mediation centre of Sakte Court helped us to understand the importance of ADR mechanism.

The cases were based upon day to day mishappenings and we encountered the real problems of life.

Bad things

There were no such bad things. But the main default of interning in this period was that we were not able to observe the court proceedings and cases to the optimum level.

Stipend

There was no stipend.

Biggest Lessons

The best lesson that one could learn through this internship was that it made us face the bitter truth of life and increased our observation power a lot.

Accommodation

Since I live in Ghaziabad. so it was very easy for me to travel from Ghaziabad to Delhi through Delhi metro station.

Office Timings

The office timings were from 9 am-5 pm. The timings were relaxed if the particular task for the day was done before the prescribed time.
