Application Process with contact details
The application process was quite simple. All I did was submitted an application for the Internship programme. It was all done offline.
Duration of internship and timings
June – July 2016
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The very first day was quite amazing. The infrastructure was good with all the facilities provided. I was firstly required to sign the attendance register as it is mandatory over there.
I was then called by the Joint Secretary, Mrs. Monidipa Borkotoky for the briefing purpose.
I was asked to go through some past cases and get an idea as to how the Commission actually works.
Main tasks
My task as an intern in Assam State Commission for Women were several. To list a few, I was required to write down all the new cases that came to the Commission in a prescribed manner.
On Saturdays we had the discussion with the parties and I was given the task to note down the decided and final review of the panel.
The same month we also organised a Conference on Draft National Policy for Women,2016 at the Assam State Administrative College which was attended by State Commissions for Women from all over Northeast.
Work environment and people
The work environment was quite friendly and cooperative.
People over there were really helpful all throughout.
All my work was closely monitored.
Best things
The best thing about this internship programme was actually coming to know on a practical level, the evils against women and the various laws associated with the same.
I learnt that punctuality and seriousness are the actual ingredients to success.
Bad things
There were no bad things as such.
Stipend
It was entirely pro bono.
Biggest Lessons
Lessons of being systematic in every task I do, sincerity and punctuality.
One must always have a learning attitude and must lend a helping hand to others while working together.
Any Other Thing
