Application Process
I contacted sir by calling him up, after which I sent my CV.
Duration of internship and timings
One month, 10:30 to 7
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The office is impressive and you are sure to feel comfortable with unlimited coffee at your disposal! There were no formalities as such. Sir is a criminal lawyer. I just reported to office at 10:30 as I was asked too. Sir arrived from court a short while after.
Main tasks
The main tasks included a lot of research work and finding case laws for sirs various cases.
Work environment and people
The work environment was good, sir has 2 associate juniors who are pretty helpful when you’re stuck in a spot. Sir himself is the best part about this internship. He is highly interested in making you understand and learn what you’re doing and teaching you things!
Best things
The best thing about this internship was the fact that there is a person right there who’s actually interested in teaching you, making you understand things and still not pioneering you. What’s the difference between dishonest and fraudulent? Civil and criminal Negligence? Can you charge an employee with vicarious liability for a criminal act?
He won’t spoonfeed you but ask you to find a judgement. When you find one, he’ll sit with you and explain properly! He’ll make you read charge sheets, you’ll accompany him to court in his cases, and if you’re a senior, then there’s a lot of work out there for you.
Bad things
None

No stipend
Biggest Lessons
Learnt a lot. Basics of criminal law, so much about procedure, and most importantly, research skills!
