Application Process
You have to simply send your CV and cover letter application on the email id provided on the website HERE.
They usually reply within a couple of days and if not, you can follow up. A list of confirmed interns is issued, confirming which department you have to work with.
Duration of internship and timings
Duration of internship is 15 days (5 days per week and around 8 hours work a day)
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
First day formalities include filing the attendance and marking yourself present. Don’t forget to carry a copy of the confirmation e-mail. Infrastructure is basic, it looks like any other government office.
Main tasks
Depending upon the CV, we are allotted cells.
It is completely their discretionary power to allot us Cell. I was allotted C&I Cell.
The basic work of the C&I Cell is to directly interact with the aggrieved parties, listen to their complaints and then register them.
Interns are also allowed to directly converse with the complainants. By this we come to know about their problems and it is very much practical.
This in turn helps a lot in gaining experience. After registration of the complaints, the C&I cell is supposed to file a BTR, i.e., Brief Transmission Report, which basically includes the summary of the case and is directed to the authorities concerned in the case.
Work Environment, People
Work environment is very friendly interns and the employees are treated equally.
Accommodation
NCW provided no accommodation. As the office is situated near Pragati Maidan Metro Station (Blue Line), hence any place within the radius of 7 km would be good, the best alternatives being Laxminagar and Preet Vihar.
Best things
The best thing about the place was that there was variety of work to do.
I had a lot to learn and enjoy at the internship.
You get to meet victims and hear their stories.
Bad things
Monotonous work.
Stipend
NIL
Biggest Lessons
Hard work is acknowledged and there really is a lot to learn.
