First Impression / Daily task work defined
First impression in the commission was excellent. If you are doing it for the first time then I can understand the excitement in you. Interns were welcomed by Mr. Rohit (system manager). Interns were asked to give their introduction. We have 50 interns in this internship.
On January 4th, We were asked about anything we know about human rights. Afterwards we were given Bare act of Protection of Human Rights Act 1993.
On January 5th, We were given a chance to ask questions from Ex- DGP Rajinder Singh. It was a great day for all of us.
Next day i.e. on January 6th, we were given a chance to meet members of PSHRC i.e. Pushpinder Singh Grewal and we were told about the procedure while entertaining the refresh complaints.
On January 7th , we had a discussion session which includes group discussion.
On January 8th, we met other member of PSHRC Jagdish Bhalla. He told us about the powers of the commission.
After this, On January 11th , we were introduced with the type of forms used under the jurisdiction of PSHRC. They include Green, Pink, White form. In green, PSHRC can take suo-mottu , in pink and white they can’t take any action.
The next day, we were given real cases and asked to decide whether they fall under jurisdiction or not.
On January 13th, there was debate session held by Rohit Sir. This helped me a lot to gain knowledge on different subjects.
Very next day, we were introduced with officer ranked SP in military force and he taught us on various matters including the debate discussion on the topic Corruption.
On last day i.e. January 15th, we were taken for round in the commission. This helped me to have introduction with the staff members.
After 2 weeks of theory knowledge, we were given Research work for another 2 week i.e. from 18 January till 3 February.
Best Things
Best thing for me is to gain knowledge from the great officers in PSHRC. All the member staff are cooperative with all of us.
The conference room was spacious. Projector screens are also available for showing video clips.
We had law students from different colleges as this helped me to polish my links too.
Bad Things
I don’t have any such bad experience to discuss in this section.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 4 Pm.
Work environment and People
The work environment was quite relaxed. People were good and cooperative.
Stipend
No
Duration of the Internship
4 January 2016 to 3 February 2016.
Biggest Lesson
Being a law student , it helped me to have practical knowledge about the functioning of the commission and I want to suggest others that they must join this commission or any other commission they feel suitable for them.
As this will definitely raise your confidence level while speaking in groups or while having debate sessions.
