It was a compulsory internship organised by my Law School for the whole batch and was part of our curriculum in 9th semester.

Duration of internship and timings

One month from 10th August, 2013 to 11th September, 2013 .

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

On our first day, we were asked to go High Court in the morning and we met the Office Assistants who gave us case list for the day. Since we haven’t read those so little we could understand.

Thereafter we were asked to come to office for an hour so that we can read at least one case file which is listed for the next day.

Main tasks

We were not given any tasks as such. Actually, Sir was too busy to pay attention to us. We used to read one or two case files, attended its proceedings in the Court next day and if there were any doubts, we could ask the Associate Advocates.

Only once I was asked to conduct research on section 19 of Prevention of Corruption Act (that too, after observing that I was regular in Office and was seriously interested in the internship). When I submitted my work to the Office Assistant, only then Sir talked to me and appreciated my work and discussed the basics of section 19 and the Act as a whole.

90% work in office is related to corruption matters and rest is matrimonial disputes and property matters.

Work environment and people

Mr. Mayank Bawa and Miss Vriti Gujral were his Associates (there were many others, though) with whom I used to discussed cases in the lunch breaks and they were very friendly and chilled out people but used to take their work seriously. Miss Vriti was very particular about deadlines and she taught me how to use SCC Online.

Best things

Lunch breaks in which we discussed everything from law points to life in law schools to latest movies etc. 😀

Less interaction.

Biggest Lessons

Always learn the basics and ‘why’ of any act before conducting the research.
