Duration of internship and timings
15th June, 2015 – 28th July, 2015
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
As you walk in the office you realize that the office is a small office with 3 rooms and buzzing with activity, clients, lawyers and interns all sitting around. You walk into Sir’s room and he greets you with a wonderful smile and asks you to be ready and prepared for the internship, he briefs you as to whether you have to come to court the next day or you need to come to office directly.
The office clerks introduce you to the daily routine and give you a copy of the cause-list of the next day if you need to come to court. The office has very very helpful clerks who are willing to provide you with everything to help you in your research work.
Main tasks
Lots of research work on wide ranging issues and topics, there is not much drafting work given to interns but an intern is given all the research work of the matters that the office is handling, one has to be a little proactive and keep himself or herself involved otherwise one might feel that there is not much work coming his or her way.
Work environment and people
The office is a classic litigation office with Advocate S S Hora leading the team of about 10 lawyers, 5 in the trial court and 5 in the High Court, the office is a small office which is going to shift soon in the World Trade Park, Jaipur building.
A three floor office currently, has an enormous library with the best books available, the associates in the office are really helpful and nice.
Best things
The office teaches you the basics of litigation pretty well and prepares you for life in the field of litigation, there is great amount of work coming your way if you can continue to complete your tasks in time and turn in the work, there is no pressure on you while you work and Sir always has an approachable attitude though he might be caught up a lot of times with work and might not be available.
Bad things
None at all.
Stipend
Depends on the quality of work and your attitude towards the internship.
Biggest Lessons
Life in litigation is not easy, research and research until you find the right thing, to read things carefully, more often than not in Litigation a case could turn in your favour by a single word.
Learnt the art of advocacy and the quality to juggle many things at once. Multitasking is the key!
