Duration of internship and timings
1st January, 2014 – 30th January, 2014
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
Vidya foundation is a small NGO that works for the welfare of children who are under privileged and for women too.
I interned here to extend my help to the organization so that I can be a part of the noble cause that is to help others.
The office is not that big and consists of 3-5 chambers only but it is well maintained and is having a super good working environment.
On the first day I was given an outdoor task of interacting with the children of an orphanage as well as to collect books and clothes for them. This work was way too good.
Main tasks
During my internship for 15 days, I was given outdoor work like spreading awareness, teaching children of slum areas about hygiene and all as well as collecting necessary items like clothes, medicines etc.
The next 15 days of my internship involved office work like listing and data entry. I would say the outdoor work was quite interesting and learning than my office work.
Work environment and people
The head of my team was very learned and a very humble person. She was having this amazing quality of getting connected to people and understand their problems and solve them as if they are of her own.
She provided us a very nice environment and other people at the office were also very helpful and informative.
Best things
The best thing during this internship was to help people who cannot stand for themselves.
Bad things
Sometimes during a visit to any slum area, seeing the condition in which these poor people survive made me feel bad because all I could think whole day was their condition and their helplessness.
Stipend
No stipend
Biggest Lessons
The biggest lesson I learnt here was that even small help can change the world of the poor people.
