The league is pleased to announce the winners of this competition, who will receive a certificate of excellence in essay writing, a memento, an exclusive copy of the latest RTI Book written by Shri Narayan Varma, as well as publication of their entries in PCGT Newsletter and SSL’s official website/annual report at the semicentennial celebration of the league, scheduled on 29th February, 2016:

Smt. Vinatadevi Tope Social Service League of Government Law College, Mumbai is organizing Vivechan’ 15 – 2nd Socio Legal Essay Competition, this year at national level, in collaboration with Public Concern For Governance Trust (PCGT), Mumbai.
The Government Law College, Mumbai, founded in 1855, is the oldest law school in Asia and enjoys a pre-eminent reputation for excellence in scholastic and co-scholastic areas.
Smt. Vinatadevi Tope Social Service League is one of the oldest and most prestigious student committees of this college. Founded in 1966 by Principal Dr. Trimbak Krishna Tope, the league undertakes various projects in collaboration with the government and non-government organizations (NGOs).
As an annual tradition, the league organizes Vivechan, a socio-legal essay competition which aims at spreading awareness among law students across the state and the country about prominent socio-legal issues.
This year, the league has collaborated with the Public Concern For Governance Trust (PCGT), a reputed NGO striving for good governance.
The basic guidelines for submission are as follows:
1. The topic of Vivechan’ 15 is “A Decade of RTI as a tool for Good Governance“
2. The total word count must not exceed 1000 words including end-notes. The essays must be sent in “pdf” format. Footnotes are not allowed.
3. The font style should be Times New Roman and the font size should 12.
4. Please note that only the original submissions are invited and any instance of plagiarism will lead to immediate disqualification.
5. Please do not submit entries which have been published elsewhere.
6. Co-authorship is not allowed.
7. Participants are required to submit the following details along with their entry (as an annexure to the essay):
Name
University
Details of the course currently being pursued
Contact details (including phone number and email address)
Kindly attach scanned image of your College ID card with the mail.
The entries must be mailed to ssl.glcmumbai@gmail.com
A hard copy of the same entry must be sent to Public Concern For Governance Trust B/2, Mahalaxmi Chambers, 22, Bhulabhai Desai Road, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400026 by speed post only.
The deadline for both soft and hard copy submissions is 24th September, 2015 before 5 pm.
The results shall be declared on 12th October, 2015.
Prizes:
I. First Prize: Certificate of Excellence in Essay Writing, a memento, and publication of the essay in PCGT Newsletter (by April 2016).
II. Second Prize: Certificate of Excellence in Essay Writing, a memento, and publication of the essay in the Semicentennial Souvenir Social Service League 2015-16
III. Third Prize: Certificate of Excellence in Essay Writing, a memento, and publication of the essay in the Annual Report of Social Service League 2015-16
All three winners will receive an exclusive copy of the latest book on Right to Information Act written by renown RTI activist, Shri Narayan Varma. Their names will be mentioned on all online platforms of the league, as well as the annual report and the Semicentennial Souvenir.
