IT for Change is an NGO based in Bengaluru, India. IT for Change aims for a society in which digital technologies contribute to human rights, social justice and equity.
They work in the areas of education, gender, governance, digital economy and internet/digital policies push the boundaries of existing vocabulary and practice, exploring new development and social change frameworks for the digital.
They have been at the forefront of conceptual, research and policy work in India and internationally, working from the standpoint of an equitable, people-centric information society.

They are looking to recruit team members keen to grow with their ambitious research and advocacy efforts in relation to national and international policy contexts. The research seeks to grapple with cutting edge themes in relation to data and digital technologies, exploring the norms and frameworks necessary for new thinking on digital policies.
What the Role Entails
- They are looking for candidates passionate about digital and data rights and development justice, with demonstrated experience in different research methods.
- The profile involves undertaking fieldwork, writing blogs, coordinating advocacy campaigns, contributing to policy submissions, event organization and assisting the production of in-house publications.
- The incoming team member must stay up-to-date with current developments in the domain, globally and in India, generating new ideas for strategic impact and take charge of appropriate and impactful dissemination of organizational knowledge.
- Based on expertise and background, the incoming team member will work on specific projects concerning – platform governance, AI in citizenship and social welfare, gender justice in the digital society, data governance regimes and labor rights in the digital economy. Work from different projects will also dovetail with our e-magazine, Bot Populi, to which the researcher is expected to contribute.
Qualifications
Candidates with a PhD/Masters degree in economics, law, public policy, feminist studies, media studies or allied inter-disciplinary education with minimum experience of 3 years should apply. They are also interested in candidates who can bring public policy thinking together with engineering skills (in coding, data visualization etc.).
