About the Seminar
H.N.B. Garhwal University is organising a National Seminar on Women Empowerment: Role of Women in Agriculture in Hills of Uttarakhand on 24th March 2020.
The issue of women empowerment has no more remained a term for academic studies but has found a place in various Government policies, laws and at the same time is reflective in various schemes run by the Government. Yet there have been few traditional modes of livelihood which has failed to attain the attention of the policymakers and hence the worth of a woman in such unconventional fields is not enough recognized.
Traditional bias against women with respect to land has not only restricted her benefits and recognition but it has also compromised her position as far as her contribution in GDP is concerned. Unfortunately, very few actions have been taken in establishing her in traditional sectors of livelihood such as agriculture and this clearly has proved fatal to her concerns.
The present seminar is a humble initiative to invite thinking minds of different areas to deal with the issue of “women empowerment” in specific ‘empowering women in agriculture’ with an objective to cater to the need of recognizing women farmers in the hills of Uttarakhand.

Registration Fee
