Internship @ Strides Acrolab, Bangalore: I learnt quite a bit about medicines and drug laws

The duration of my internship was from October 7^th 2013 to November 5^th 2013. 9 am to 6 pm. 6 days a week

How big was the office? Team strength?

Team strength was 5. The overall office was pretty big, but it is difficult to say objectively and number wise just how big the entire office was since it also includes a factory within the premises.

Accommodation: how, where, how was it?

Since my parents live  in Bangalore, I stayed at home

First impression. First day, formalities etc.

First Impression was very good. First day an orientation was held for me, wherein I was told how a corporate office functions and what the job of a legal team is.

I was also told about the various aspects of the legal team in a corporate firm, and what are the various branches that are handled by the team.

Main tasks 

My job was basically research work – writing case briefs and doing research on issues in the ongoing cases.

I worked on some interesting contract and labour law cases and since this is a Pharmaceutical company, I learnt quite a bit about medicines and drug laws.

I learnt about Confidentiality agreements as well

 Work environment, people

The environment at work was very conducive to learning. The People were extremely nice and helpful, and not once did I feel like an outsider.

Since I was the only intern, I got a lot of attention from everyone, and was never left to feel alone or wanting. Any issue I had was addressed as soon as possible.

Best things? 

My immediate senior was undoubtedly the best part of my internship. He never let me feel like I didn’t know what I was doing. He never answered any of my queries on the spot or directly.

In fact any question I asked him, he answered with another question. He basically wanted me to find the answer myself, which speaks volumes about him as a teacher.

I even had very interesting debates with him on varied subjects, some not even concerning Pharma or drug law.

Bad things?

The small team strength. But it did not affect me much.

What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues

Since there were no co-interns, there was no one to “chill” with. But the team always had lunch together, and we even went out once or twice. Other than that, it was office gossip and the seniors reminiscing their law school days.

I enjoyed every moment of working in Strides, and I would love to do so again if opportunity permits.
