About the organisations
The Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu by an Act of State Legislature (Tamil Nadu Act No. 9 of 2012).
National Law School of India University, Bangalore (NLSIU) came into existence through a Notification under the NATIONAL LAW SCHOOL OF INDIA UNIVERSITY Act (Karnataka Act 22 of 1986).
About the workshop
Tamil Nadu National Law University, Trichy (TNNLU) in collaboration with National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru is organising a Two Day Advance Regional Workshop on Biological Diversity Law and Access and Benefit Sharing.
The workshop is sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) Global Access and Benefit Sharing Project.
Date and Venue: The Workshop is scheduled to be held on 11th and 12th of May, 2019 in TNNLU Campus.
The workshop aims to develop a platform among the stakeholders and decision-makers to address, to interrogate, and to understand the various aspects of Biodiversity Law.
It further aims to assist participants to broaden their understanding about the importance of biodiversity and its implication on human life as well as to understand the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.
Objectives of the workshop
1. To acquaint the participants with biodiversity laws and ABS provisions – both at the national and International Level.
2. To familiarize the participants with the procedure and formalities with regards to ABS.
3. To provide the participants with an updated information of the latest practices and challenges with regards to ABS Systems and Mechanism.
4. To facilitate discussions, deliberations and implementation methodologies for sustainable ABS Systems in developing economies.
This is a call for provisional registration for participation in the workshop from academicians, research scholars, and professionals from the agricultural and biotechnology sectors, forest officials, regulators, practitioners, environmentalists, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) for this conference.
