UPDATE: This course is cancelled.
Drafting is the most fundamental skill which every law student must be equipped with yet it is something which finds very less presence in the law school curriculum and is rarely taught in the majority of the law colleges across the country. Having sound knowledge and understanding of the basics, principles, and rules of drafting gives an upper hand to the students when they go for their law firm internships, litigations, jobs etc.
Therefore, realizing the immense potential and importance of drafting, we are proud to announce that Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University is going to organize a certificate course on ‘Drafting and Negotiation’. The course is open to all the students from across the country.
The course shall be conducted by Mr. Ajar Rab, ACIArb, MiADR. Mr. Rab is a graduate from NLSIU, Bangalore and has done his masters dual degree in law and business from Bucerius Law School and WHU-Otto Beisheim School of Management, Germany. He is a partner at Rab & Rab Associates LLP, Dehradun, and a guest faculty at NLSIU Bangalore.
He has delivered lectures, taken various courses and conducted many workshops across the country in both online and offline platform including various NLUs, UPES Dehradun etc. He has recently authored a commentary on the RERA Act which has been published by EBC. He is one of the noteworthy rising counsels in the country and has cordial relations with our University. His practice is based on the laws of arbitration, business, and procedure.
The course is specially designed to acquaint students with the nuances of drafting and negotiations through practical exposure rather than imposing theoretical knowledge. The course emphasizes on the drafting of commercial agreements including but not limited to term sheets, joint venture agreements, share purchase agreements, shareholder agreements, international and domestic arbitration clauses etc. from a practitioner’s as well as transactional lawyer’s perspective.
The USP of the course is the negotiations that are going to take place before drafting the documents. Negotiations would include Harvard Negotiations Case Studies, simulation exercises based on real-life situations where participants would negotiate with each other which would then be converted into an agreement by drafting it.
Certificate
A certificate, duly signed by Mr Rab shall be provided post the successful completion of the course.
