About
Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) has been set up by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India to act as a think-tank and roll out need-based capacity building solutions to various stakeholders such as the industry, public sector enterprises, regulatory authorities, government departments and students etc.
The School of Competition Law and Market Regulation, an integral part of the IICA, engages in research, policy advisory and capacity building in the areas of competition law and market regulation.
Antitrust Programme
The School, in partnership with Competition Commission of India (CCI), is pleased to announce its “Antitrust Programme for Young Fellows 2014 (Theme of the year: 5 years of Competition Law Enforcement in India)”.
The programme is open for graduates/post-graduates/
(a) Antitrust Writing Contest (Last date of submission is June 20, 2014);and
(b) Antitrust Summer School (July 1–5, 2014) to be organized at the IICA campus, Manesar, Gurgaon.
The aspiring students may choose to participate in any one or both the programme.
For the Antitrust Writing Contest, the School invites original writings on a diverse range of designated antitrust themes, which are listed in the enclosed poster. The second component of the programme, the Antitrust Summer School is aimed at skill development of students byimparting foundational as well specialized training in drafting and transactional skills pertaining to antitrust cases.
The programme also seeks to provide students and young researchers a unique opportunity to present their papers and freely engage with diverse peer-group and distinguished and internationally acclaimed antitrust practitioners belonging to regulatory authorities, law firms, economic advisory firms and government departments.
Antitrust Writing Contest
Submissions:
1. Original writings up to 5000 words (including citations and references) on the following themes are invited:
(a) 5 years of competition law enforcement in India: Achievements and Challenges
(b) Innovative approaches to detect cartels and bid rigging
(c) Challenges in determination and enforcement of penalties
(d) Approaches to address policy and law induced market distortions
(e) Fair, Resonable & Non-Discriminatory Terms: A Challenge for India?
(f) A Challenge for Intellectual Property Rights- Competition Interface in India?
(g) Competitive Neutrality: Challenges in the context of public sector enterprises and subsidies.
(h) Innovations in competition outreach: New approaches for effective compliance and capacity building
(i) Scrutinising below threshold combinations: Feasibility and approaches
(j) Revisiting business strategy to stay competition law compliant
(k) Competition Law and Indian Economy: Future directions & Challenges for next 5 years.
Awards
1st Prize: Rs.20,000
2nd Prize: Rs.15,000
3rd Prize: Rs.10,000
Top 5 papers (including the top three cash prize winners) receive summer school fellowship and an opportunity to present their work during the summer school. Selected papers may be published suitably.
