Name. College. Year of Study
Nairitya Sharma. KIIT School of Law, 1st year
Name of the organization. City.
Voluntary Health Association of Sikkim. Gangtok , Sikkim.
Duration of the internship. No. of days/week. Timings
17th December 2013 to 15th January 2014. We were asked to report there from Monday to Saturday every week of our internship. The timings we were given was 10 am to 5 pm for each day but it was more or less flexible.
How big was the office? Team strength?
The office or the association was in a building. And the association constituted the five floors of the building. There were many staffs and employees but for the purpose of internship I came across twenty to thirty employees over there. The group of employees for the purpose of internship was Headed by Mr. B.B Rai.
Application procedure. Internship contact details
It is not a hectic procedure to get yourself as an intern over here.
One can send an E-mail B.B Rai, Director of the office. I got myself an internship over there by sending my CV to them and also an email address can be found in their website as well.
Accommodation: how, where, how was it?
I did not have to search for any accommodation as it is my home town. But for those who have to find accommodation it can be a very tough job.
First impression. First day, formalities etc.
First day was not so hectic. It was just a casual introduction to all the office staff and Director. No work was given on the 1st day of office, I was to submit the joining letter and to introduce about myself and my objective of being there.
My first impression as an intern over there was nice as the work environment was very good. People were very cooperative and helping .They gave all the interns an overview of all the work we had to do and our future prospects.
Main tasks (in detail)
I was given the task to go and talk to people about healthy life and make them aware about their health and inspire them towards healthy society.
It was basically a task where practical field work was required and I had to make people, the local people aware of health and hygiene.
Then I was told to make report on the everyday basis and about the knowledge I gained from that. It was a great experience and I came across the truth of life which otherwise I would have not known.
Work environment, people
Environment of the office was absolutely friendly and comfortable. All the office staff were very friendly and supportive. They tried every possible way in making my internship fruitful and satisfactory. They guided us throughout our internship period and were always ready to help.
Best things? (Nothing is all bad)
Best thing was that all the office staff were very friendly and supportive. They tried their best to make me comfortable and my internship successful.
Bad things? (Nothing is all good)
Nothing was really bad. For those requiring accommodation it would be a problem for them and those who don’t like field work may find it tiring.
What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues
My co-interns were easy to get along and have fun. Mr. B.B Rai was very friendly and made sure we had a good time interning. We were taken out for lunch once in a while.
