The office was not so big. I worked alone and not in teams.

Accommodation: how, where, how was it?

My hometown is in Kolkata. So I did not require any accommodation. There are many options available for outsiders to stay too. Some of my Co-interns used to live in a very nice Paying Guest near the NGO only.

First impression. First day, formalities etc.

First day they asked me a few personal questions that why I chose law and if I was liking it or not and how is college life going on. More or less, all the formalities were cleared beforehand only. They registered my name in the list and kept check on my presence from further.

Main tasks (in detail)

The NGO mainly deals with promotion of education amongst the under privileged children. They stay in slums or at the roadside.

Here they are taught the basics of education that why education is needed and the problems that they will face if they are illiterate.

I mainly taught them English and sometimes mathematics. I also helped them in reading English storybooks and also told them why and how they should save money. I myself read the laws related to child labour and right to education.

Work environment, people

There were two ladies with me. They were permanent teachers in that NGO. They helped me a lot. I faced no problems as the working condition was very nice and comfortable.

The amount of field work done to contribute a little into people’s life and to make them a little literate. Educating someone itself makes the environment very  inspiring.

People were very enthusiastic about their work and that energy forces you too to work properly

Best things? (Nothing is all bad)

The teachers gave me space and allowed me to work by myself and never gave directions. I learnt how to teach somebody and that respect you get from somebody you are teaching is incomparable.

The teachers, they wanted to see my teaching style and encouraged and also appreciated me. Teaching was something I was always fond of, It gives you an amazing experience of your life.

Bad things? (Nothing is all good)

Nothing at all. I was all fine with my work there just a little time management problem I faced , which was gone after the impeccable work I was given to do.

What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues

I had no co-interns, as mentioned earlier, I used to chill with the people I was trying to teach and with the two teachers we ate food when we were outside office for work.

Stipend/month

No stipend but an amazing experience.

Anything else you’d like to tell; Biggest lessons

I really understood how it feels to be a teacher and what happiness and satisfaction you acquire when you are able to make someone understand a particular topic or subject.

I really now understand how tough is a work of a teacher and how important it is. When you teach somebody it gives you an immense satisfaction and helps you improving as a good human being.
