About
The Society for International Law and Policy (SILP) is an independent academic society operating directly under the aegis of West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata.
SILP seeks to provide a platform for discussion and deliberation on various pertinent issues on international law and policy. Being an academic society, SILP has previously conducted discussions, seminars, and various other workshops, on matters ranging from adoption rights to environmental law.
These talks were graced by the presence of legal luminaries such as Lt. Hon’ble Justice Altamas Kabir, Dr. Ved P. Nanda, Prof. Armin Rosencranz, Prof. V. Umakanth, UNHCR Chef de Mission Mr. Hans Schroder, et al.
Blog
The members run a blog here, on which contributions – including, but not limited to, synopses of lectures, weekly news article updates, and write-ups of contemporary relevance – are updated regularly.
Submission Procedure and Guidelines
In order to facilitate independent, innovative dialogue on international law, we invite scholars, practitioners and students to send in blog posts to silp@nujs.edu
The post must deal with a contemporary issue of international law or geo-politics. Posts which deal with recent issues and either explain normative trends or propose unique solutions to current problems are preferred.
The blog posts should be between 1,000 – 1,500 words long. We will get back within 9-10 days of submission with a confirmation.
