Skill Building on the Art and Practice of Trial, Corporate and Environmental Litigation
About
The Centre for Post Graduate Legal Studies at TERI University, New Delhi, is set up as an interdisciplinary centre of excellence dedicated to legal research and teaching on issues pertaining to society and development.
The Centre is conducting a three day litigation workshop for law students and young lawyers in association with well known practitioners across trial, corporate and environmental sectors.

Context
Knowing how to conduct litigation in India is a vital component of legal education. The three day workshop is designed to allow lawyers and students to develop and hone their litigation skills on a practical level.
Uniqueness
During this workshop, the participants will learn the procedure of civil, criminal, corporate and environmental litigation. These sessions provide an excellent opportunity to learn directly from practicing lawyers with long and varied experience.
A case study designed specifically for the Workshop will be used during the sessions. The case study used for all the topics to be presented during the Workshop.
Objectives
-
To provide a basic overview of Indian court systems and reforms;

To apprise the participants on the basic qualities of an advocate and etiquettes;

To inculcate the art and practice of trail court litigation covering civil and criminal litigation, and also at the Supreme Court and High Courts;

To understand the uniqueness of the corporate and environmental litigation; and
-
To comprehensively equip students to develop basic litigation skills.
Pedagogy
The sessions will be a combination of lecture style presentations and practical demonstrations. Case studies and participatory activities will be a part of all sessions.
