Research Project
Ministry of Law is implementing a Scheme for Action and Studies on Judicial Reforms. Under this scheme the Ministry has sanctioned a research project to DAKSH. Over the last seven years we have been aiming to create inclusive, transparent, self-correcting mechanisms that encourage accountability in all branches of the government.
From past few years, our particular focus of study has been on judiciary. In order to strengthen our vision we have undertaken the project titled, “Comparative Analysis of Causes for Pendency in Six High Courts and Six District Courts in India” commissioned by the Ministry of Law.
As a part of this project we will be collecting data from 12 courts, six of which are High Courts and the other six are district courts. From each of these courts we intend to study 500 cases. High Courts and subordinate courts in Patna, Mumbai, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Kolkata are also chosen for the purpose of this study.
There are also several other studies that we are undertaking pertaining to the functioning of the judiciary, simultaneously.
Requirement
We need both part time and full time researchers who can accomplish these projects.
Task Profile
We need both part time and full time researchers that can visit the aforementioned courts (Patna, Mumbai, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Kolkata) and conduct field study by analysing the case records. Further details about the cases, methodology and frequency of visits to these courts will be disclosed upon selection.
