About
The CONTACT Summer Peacebuilding Program is a three-week professional and academic program in conflict transformation.
The program serves the needs of working professionals who want to further their skills and knowledge in peacebuilding, as well as those who plan to pursue a graduate degree in conflict transformation.
The program explores ways to confront the past, intervene in the present, and create a shared vision for a secure and sustainable future. Through a combination of readings, discussions, and experiential activities with faculty, participants develop a full range of peacebuilding skills and techniques.
Participants benefit from the unique opportunity to be in a diverse multicultural setting and share experiences and knowledge. Each year, peacebuilders from more than 30 countries around the world come to Vermont to participate in this program.
Venue
The first two weeks of the program take place on the SIT Graduate Institute campus in Brattleboro, Vermont, and the final week of the program takes place in Washington, DC.
Musicians without Borders, Music Connects
For 2016, CONTACT is pleased to announce a two-week professional training program in community music leadership and conflict transformation in conjunction with Musicians without Borders (MWB).
The training is open to musicians and music students who are active in their communities as workshop leaders, teachers, or social activists and who would like to further their knowledge of using music as a tool for peacebuilding and social change.
The first week of training will be led by CONTACT’s international staff and will focus on key concepts in peacebuilding and community development.
The second week of the training will be led by MWB’s professional trainers who specialize in running community music projects with people dealing with trauma, fear, and isolation as a result of war and conflict.
