Kerala Law Academy law college in association with Centre For Advanced Legal Studies And Research (CALSAR) is organizing a National Seminar on Nuclear Energy and Its Regulation, to be held on 4th and 5th of March 2016 at Justice VR Krishna Iyer Memorial Hall at Kerala Law Academy campus, Peroorkada, Trivandrum, Kerala.

We also invite papers from Law Students, Academicians, Lawyers, Nuclear scientists, Environmentalist, Policy makers and officials from various nuclear institutions; Representatives from regulatory institutions and company professionals; NGO, Social Activists, Social science researchers and faculty and research scholars on the below mentioned themes to be presented during the Seminar.
Themes
India’s nuclear energy program: evolution, technology program, present status.
Introduction to international nuclear law, international conventions.
Iaea – its role and functions -, safeguards.
The us-india agreement; india specific iaea safeguards agreement
Environment aspects of nuclear power.
Radio active waste management
Human rights issues on nuclear power.
Radiation protection: basic understanding, philosophy, indian and international system of radiation protection standards
Nuclear safety concepts
Nuclear regulatory process in different countries : licensing process, public consultation, etc.
Nuclear regulatory and liability regime in india; the civil liability for nuclear damages act 2010
Aerb safety, consent and licensing codes; nsra bill, 2011
Comparative regulatory regimes from the oecd: best practices in regulation, consent process, public consultation and involvement

Call for Papers
The organisers of the Seminar call upon Law Students, Academicians, Lawyers ,Nuclear scientists, policy makers, and officials from various nuclear institutions; – Representatives from regulatory institutions and company professionals; NGO, Social Activists, Social science researchers and faculty and research scholars of relevant disciplines to present their well researched papers at the seminar, relevant to the above themes.
Kindly confine yourself to the areas identified for the Seminar.
The papers may be in Times New Roman Font 12 size in A4 format, single line spacing, not exceeding 4000 words including Footnotes.
An abstract not exceeding 200 words shall be submitted for consideration.
The abstract shall contain the Synopsis of the Paper, Subtitles, Reference materials and conclusion indicating author’s perspective.
Submission
The abstract must be mailed to law.seminar.kla@gmail.com
Deadline
25th January, 2016.
The papers shall be screened by a committee.
The full papers approved by the committee shall be accepted for presentation in the seminar.
The intimation of selection will be made through email.
The final paper should contain a cover page which includes Name, Designation, Relevant Discipline and Year of Study, Address, email id and Contact number.
Abstracts and papers should be written in English, and the working language of the seminar will be English and presentations shall be done in English.
Co-authorship is permitted, subject to a limit of maximum two authors per submission.
Submission should be made by the author who will attend the seminar.
For papers having more than one author shall pay his registration fee.
Only one paper per participant will be permitted.
Multiple submissions will lead to disqualification.
No part of the paper should have been published earlier nor should it be under consideration for publication. Any form of plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.
Registration Fee
A Registration fee of Rs 1000/- for all the participants.
There will be no Accommodation or TA/DA.

Submission of Full paper: 18th February, 2016
